About Us

The National Indian Residential School Survivor Society (NIRSSS) is a non-profit that is funded by the Future Generations Foundation working in collaboration with Akiing Onji Foundation.

Our efforts include helping survivors find resources on Advocacy, Healing, Culture and Language Reclamation, and Education on the IRS Legacy.

Our aim is not to duplicate other reconciliation efforts, but to support Survivors and connect them with those that do provide services to address some of the legacy of the IRS.

About the NIRSSS Resource Portal

The NIRSSS Resource Portal is an online database designed to help IRS Survivors, their families, and communities easily access resources related to advocacy, healing, culture and language reclamation, and education on the IRS legacy. This database provides a central hub for information and support, making it simpler to find trusted resources online.

The NIRSSS Resource Portal represents our best efforts to compile online resources specifically focused on only a few topics. We recognize that reconciliation encompasses many additional actions as given in the 94 Calls to Action. With further financial support, we hope to expand this work and provide a more comprehensive resource for Survivors, families, and communities.
